I am a Usui Reiki Master Teacher and the author of Reiki: A Manual, which I originally wrote for my students under my former name, Maia Kumari Gilman. I trained in the United States with teachers whose guidance shaped my early practice, and my approach to using Reiki in spaces was later shared by the International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP) as their standing explanation of space clearing. Reiki continues to shape my creative work, my art practice, and the energy‑based storytelling woven through my ecofiction trilogy.

A wellness‑centered approach runs through everything I create—architecture, books, art, and systems leadership. My daily practices of meditation, Reiki, and intuitive self‑care influence the way I design, teach, write, and make art. I have also studied sound healing with Ruth Cunningham and Timothy Hill, whose contemplative and overtone‑based approaches deepen my understanding of resonance, clarity, and energetic alignment. Bringing this sense of grounded clarity into my work is essential to me.

I offer wellness‑aligned learning experiences for organizations and creative communities. I trained with retreat leaders Sheri Rosenthal and Meghan Gilroy in workshop design grounded in the principles of don Miguel Ruiz’s The Four Agreements. My work in this area brings together Reiki, intuitive practice, creative process, sound‑based awareness, and energy‑aligned approaches to space and storytelling.

Although I no longer offer private Reiki sessions or video‑based services, I previously created Align in Your Space, a remote Reiki‑infused series developed during the pandemic to help people reconnect with clarity, grounding, and energetic alignment within their homes. That work continues to influence how I understand space, wellness, and creative flow.

Reiki is a simple, gentle energy technique used for stress reduction and relaxation. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions, prescribe or perform medical treatment, prescribe substances, or interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. Reiki does not take the place of medical care. I recommend that you consult a licensed physician or licensed health‑care professional for any physical or psychological condition you may have. Reiki complements—but does not replace—any medical or psychological care you may be receiving. In one’s healing and wellness, deep relaxation is often beneficial.
